TAL Generator

A target account list,
ready for ads and sales in minutes.

A target account list (TAL) is the set of companies your ABM programme goes after. IntentBid's TAL Generator builds one from your website and region, sized to your budget, refreshes it without repeating companies, and sends it straight to Microsoft Ads, Google Ads and HubSpot.

How big should a TAL be?

List size in IntentBid is set in decision-maker positions, from 100 up to 5,000 and more. The right size depends on how you will reach the list:

MotionTypical sizeWhy
1:1A few dozen companiesSales works each account personally
1:fewA few hundred companies, in clustersMessages by industry or use case
1:manyUp to several thousand companiesProgrammatic reach and search

A useful check: your monthly Audience Network budget divided by the number of companies. If it comes to very little per account, reach fewer accounts well. Microsoft Advertising accepts up to 1,000 companies per campaign or ad group, so larger lists are split across campaigns by tier or cluster.

Tiers inside the list

  • Tier 1: best fit and most decision-maker positions in your target roles. Sales reviews these by name.
  • Tier 2: good fit, grouped into clusters by industry or use case.
  • Tier 3: ICP fit, reached at scale.

The role counts help: a company with several decision makers in your target department has a real buying group. Engagement then moves accounts up: the IntentBid engagement score shows which tier 3 companies are behaving like tier 1.

Refreshing without repeats

Markets change and lists go stale. You can rebuild a TAL or switch on a monthly refresh: each run adds new matching companies and decision-maker positions. Companies already in any of your other lists are skipped, so a new list never repeats accounts you already target. Changes flow to your target accounts, your ad audiences and, if you choose, HubSpot automatically.

Need more companies like the best ones in the list? Find lookalike companies adds new accounts with the same industries, sizes and countries.

Using a TAL on Microsoft, Google and HubSpot

  • Microsoft Advertising: companies become company targeting on Bing search (as a bid adjustment) and the Audience Network (MSN, Outlook, Edge), combined with job functions. Microsoft reports impressions by company.
  • Google Ads: Google cannot target companies by name. The TAL marks your target accounts, so when the pixel identifies a visit from one of them, the visitor joins the company audience for Display, YouTube and Gmail retargeting. ICP segments and lookalikes reach new accounts.
  • HubSpot: send or sync the companies to HubSpot with one click, or sync automatically, so sales works the same list. Companies only; contacts in your CRM stay yours.
  • Reporting: every target account gets impressions (Microsoft), clicks, visits, pages read and an engagement score.

Straight answers.

What is a target account list?

The list of companies an ABM programme focuses on. It drives targeting, content and reporting, and it should be agreed with sales.

How many accounts should my TAL have?

As many as your budget and team can reach well: a few dozen for 1:1, a few hundred for 1:few, up to several thousand for 1:many.

Does the TAL include contacts?

No. You get companies, the number of decision-maker positions and their main role. People and emails are never shown or uploaded to ad platforms.

Will a refresh add companies I already have?

No. Companies already in your other lists are skipped, so each build and monthly refresh adds new companies only.

Can I use the TAL on Google Ads?

Yes, but not as company-name targeting, which Google does not offer. Google uses the TAL through company audiences after a visit, ICP segments and lookalike companies. Microsoft Ads targets the companies directly.

Can I export the list to HubSpot?

Yes. Send or sync the companies to HubSpot, once or automatically whenever the list changes.
