Create your first Google Ads campaign
Build a Google search ad or image ad from your buyer questions, check it against Google's limits and create it paused in your own account.
IntentBid creates two kinds of Google campaigns in your own Google Ads account:
| Type | Where it shows | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Google search ad | Text ads on Google when people search your buyer questions | Buyers who are already searching |
| Google image ad | Image ads on sites and apps about your topics (Display network) | Reaching chosen companies or an ICP segment, retargeting |
Both are created paused, and nothing spends until you approve them. You need a connected Google Ads account first. See Connect your Google Ads account.
Open the campaign window
Go to Google Ads → + New campaign, or click New Google Ads campaign on the Google Ads overview. The steps are Channel, Audience (image ads only), Questions & keywords, The ad, Budget, location & dates and Review. Move between them with Next → and ← Back. Next → checks the current step before it moves on.
A search ad, step by step
- Channel: choose Google search ad.
- Questions & keywords: enter a Campaign name, then pick questions in the picker or type them into Buyer questions to cover, one per line. Google turns them into keywords. Set the Landing page (https).
- The ad: write 3–15 Headlines, one per line (up to 30 characters each) and 2–4 Descriptions, one per line (up to 90 characters each). The preview shows the ad in search results, also with an AI Overview above it.
- Budget, location & dates: set the Daily budget and the Countries as two-letter codes, for example
US, GB, DE. The start and end dates are optional. - Review: when every check is green, click Create paused campaign.
An image ad, step by step
- Channel: choose Google image ad.
- Audience: under Who sees it, pick an ABM audience (ICP segments, Company audiences, People at your accounts (CRM) or Website buying stage), or leave Topics of your buyer questions selected to prospect. Set the Frequency cap per person. The default is at most 4 a day and 15 a week. Customers are excluded automatically.
- Questions & keywords: name the campaign and add the questions that describe your topics, plus the landing page.
- The ad: 1–5 headlines and 1–5 descriptions, a Long headline (up to 90 characters), a Business name (up to 25 characters), a Landscape image (1.91:1, at least 600×314 px, e.g. 1200×628) and a Square image (1:1, at least 300×300 px, e.g. 1200×1200). Each image can be up to 1.5 MB.
- Budget, location & dates: set the daily budget and the countries.
- Review, then Create paused campaign.
No audience yet? The Audience step has shortcuts: + Upload a customer list (CSV), + Find target companies (Company finder) and + TAL Generator.
What Review checks
- the number and length of headlines and descriptions for the ad type
- for image ads: the long headline, plus both a landscape and a square image
- countries written as two-letter codes
- landing page on https, a daily budget, and an end date after the start date
If anything fails, Create paused campaign stays disabled until you fix it.
Approve and launch
The campaign appears on All campaigns as Waiting for your approval. Click Approve and launch. Google then reviews the ads, and the Ad review column shows the result. After launch you can use Pause, Resume and Set budget right in the table. For image ads, the campaign workspace also has Save frequency cap.
FAQ
How much should I budget?
The budget step shows an estimated range of clicks based on typical B2B prices. Google's auction sets the real price. B2B search clicks often cost $3–8.
Why is my image campaign not serving?
Audience lists need enough people before Google serves to them: 100 for image ads. Under Google Ads → Audiences, a list shows Filling until it's big enough.
Can I change the ads later?
Yes. Texts, images and landing page are under Creatives. Changes go to Google and are reviewed again.
