Create your first ChatGPT Ads campaign
Pick buyer questions, write the ad card, set a budget and create the campaign paused in your own ChatGPT Ads account. Then approve it.
A ChatGPT ad is a card under a ChatGPT answer, with a title, a short text, an image and a link. In IntentBid you build it step by step around the buyer questions you want to appear on. It's created paused in your own ChatGPT Ads account, and nothing spends until you approve it.
You need a connected ChatGPT Ads account first. See Connect your ChatGPT Ads account.
Open the campaign window
Go to ChatGPT Ads → + New campaign, or click New ChatGPT Ads campaign on the ChatGPT Ads overview. A window opens with a row of steps at the top: Channel, Questions & keywords, The ad, Budget, location & dates and Review. Use Next → and ← Back to move between them. Next → checks the fields on the current step first. You can also click a step you've already finished to jump back to it.
Step by step
- Channel: choose ChatGPT ad. If it shows Not connected, click Connect and finish the connection first.
- Questions & keywords: give the campaign a Campaign name. Then pick questions from the picker, which sorts them by priority: AI does not name you first, then AI names you sometimes, AI names you and Tested in GEO audits. The Buyer questions to cover, one per line box is prefilled with questions where AI leaves you out. ChatGPT gets these as context hints for when to show your ad.
- Still on that step, set the Landing page. It must start with
https://. - The ad: write the Title (3–50 characters) and the Text (up to 100 characters). Upload an Image: PNG or JPG, at least 640×640 px, up to 1.5 MB. The live preview next to the form shows how the card looks under an answer.
- Set the Maximum cost per click. Typical B2B clicks cost 2.50–5 in your account currency.
- Budget, location & dates: set the Daily budget. The planner shows an estimated range of clicks for that budget. Start date and End date are optional. Leave them empty and the campaign starts when you approve it and runs until you pause it.
- Review: check the summary and the list of checks, then click Create paused campaign.
Need a different image size or a lighter file? The links under the image field open the resize, compress and remove-background tools in the Creative studio.
What Review checks
Review runs the ChatGPT Ads limits before anything is sent:
- Title 3–50 characters and text up to 100 characters
- an image is attached (at least 640×640)
- landing page on https
- end date after the start date, if you set dates
- daily budget set
- a reminder: no claims your landing page can't back up, and no images that imitate a chat message
If something fails, Review tells you how many things to fix and Create paused campaign stays disabled. Go back to that step and change it.
Countries
ChatGPT shows the ad in every country where ChatGPT ads are available, so this form has no country field. If you need to narrow it down, do that in ChatGPT Ads Manager after the campaign is created.
Approve and launch
The new campaign appears at the top of All campaigns with the status Waiting for your approval. Click Approve and launch to start it, or Discard to throw it away. After launch, OpenAI reviews the ad. You can follow the review in the Ad review column (In review, Approved, Approved (limited) or Rejected).
FAQ
Can I advertise on questions where AI already names us?
Yes. Questions under AI names you are labelled defend. An ad there keeps you in front of buyers on questions where AI already names you.
Where do I change the ad after launch?
Texts, images and landing page are under Creatives. Changes go to ChatGPT Ads and are reviewed again. To pause or resume, use Pause or Resume on All campaigns or in the campaign's own workspace.
Can I target a customer list?
ChatGPT Ads only accept e-mail or phone lists, from about 25,000 matched people, and you upload them in Ads Manager. ChatGPT Ads → Customer lists explains how to download a hashed list for that.
