How to use the result

  • Fix the order for the year. Exports can then be split into columns and joined to GA4 and CRM data.
  • Hyphens inside parts, one separator between parts. 'tier1-security-leads' stays one field.
  • Keep a legend. Write down what each code means; nobody remembers 'pg-v3' in six months.

Questions

Straight answers.

Why do campaign names matter?

Platforms export spend by campaign name and GA4 reports by utm_campaign. Consistent names let you join them without manual clean-up.

Should campaign names and utm_campaign match?

Yes, or share the same parts. Then platform reports and analytics can be joined on the name.

Which separator is best?

Underscores are easy to split in spreadsheets and don't clash with hyphenated words. Pipes are readable but can break some tools.

Does IntentBid use this for ChatGPT ads?

For ChatGPT ads we use a shorter campaign value, country-device-stage, and carry the buyer question in utm_content.
